A Christmas Tartan is a small novel that comes after Book 2 of the Scottish Bookshop Mystery series. Delaney is staying in Scotland for Christmas. Her boss finds a box delivered to his house filled with an old copy of A Christmas Carol, a tartan scarf, a photograph of a young woman, an old serving spoon, and other items. In doing research, Delaney discovers that the young woman in the photo was the granddaughter of a woman in the 1960s who mysteriously disappeared.
While working in the warehouse of the bookshop, Delaney hits her head and gets knocked out. She has a dream about those events in the 1960s. When she wakes up, she investigates the cold case.
It was an interesting mystery and the dream where she visits events in the past reminded me of the Ghost of Christmas Past in A Christmas Carol. While the mystery was intersting, Tom was not in this installment, which was extremely disappointing. In Book Two, it was stated that he was going to visit relatives in Germany with his father for Christmas. However, I thought at least Delaney could have received a call or text from him.
This will no doubt make me eager to read Book Three next month.
