State: Massachusetts
Priscilla Grant has been a widow for eight months. All she has ever known is the Kansas farm life and being the wife of a farmer. But when her aunt dies, she leaves Priscilla her cottage and the light house next to it in Martha’s Vineyard. Priscilla decides to leave Kansas and move to Martha’s Vineyard. Upon moving there, she discovers that there is rumored to be gold on her property. As a result, groups of strangers are trespassing on her property to search for the gold. Priscilla decides in order to get any peace, she will have to investigate the so-called treasure.
In her move to Martha’s Vineyard, Priscilla reconnects with her three cousines who are natives to the island. She also meets a handsome Captain of the Coast Guard, Gerald O’Bannon. They strike up a friendship, but its obvious that it will blossom into something more in future books.
It was an interesting mystery, not a suprising one, though. However, the characters are charming and the island is delightful.
