Julianne Montgomery has been a widow for five months, or at least, she thought she was. And then one night, her dead husband, David, shows up at her new house shot. Julianne soon discovers that David had been lying to her. He had not been working for the IRS, but for the FBI working undercover to take down an organized crime boss. When his undercover identity was in danger, he became increasingly worried over Julianne’s safety. As a result, he fakes his own death, but the criminals David is after are still planning to go after Julianne, so David decides to come clean to Julianne and take her on the run.
Of course, Julianne is furious with David and his lies. How can she trust him? But regardless of her hurt feelings, she has to put them aside and learn to trust David, or she will not survive the coming danger.
I had misgivings of this novel at first, but it ended up having some unexpected suspense moments and sweet romance. I recommend this novel, especially if you like clean romantic suspense.
